April 5, 1951, Rosenbergs convicted of spying

On April 5, 1951, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were sentenced to death for spying. The Rosenbergs were identified as having given documents concerning the atomic bomb to the Soviets as part of a spy ring operating shortly after the end of World War II. They proclaimed innocence, but they died in the electric chair in June 1953.
